Ice Cream Scoop
The first trigger ice cream scoop was invented in19th century. Afterward, mechanism such as lever and scraper are used to remove the ice from the scoop, and materials and coating that conduct heat are applied to prevent ice cream sticking on the scoop.
Keeping the advantage of the traditional trigger scoop, we improved its mechanism to make it be suitable for both left-handed and right-handed users.
Instead of squeezing the lever alongside the handle, users only have to slide the switch on the handle. Triggered by thumb, the scoop can be easily handled even by children.
Additionally, the design of this product can be used on other food, carving fruits and vegetables into balls.
With less complicated components, the appearance becomes more clean and neat. Simple as it seemed, the mechanism was modified by the designer with ingenuity to be hidden inside the handle.
Take ice cream scoop designed by ODIIST for example. We modified the mechanism considering intuitive operating direction by replacing the lever with a simple switch, and concealed the mechanism inside the handle. It not only simplifies the appearance but also features easy and useful style from both form and function.
